I had got the wrong marriage and didn't realize until you gave me the one above. I had been looking at Staffs BMD and presumed he was married in Stoke area to a Kate - wondered why I couldn't find her before marriage as I was using Kate Hyndman's details !!
Found Kate in 1881 and her father was manager of a forge . Perhaps William was down there working and married boss's daughter.
Still haven't found them in 1891 though
Tried looking for Kate's family in 1891 but they seem to have disappeared too - aargh !
