Make sure you have a decent program on your puter though - one you can back up to cd or internet.

I have various albums and folders and cert albums - look at S and N Genealogy or my-history websites, both of them sell filing stuff.

Ann, I think I asked this a while ago, I'll see if I've still got the thread and nudge it for you.

If not, I'll tell you how I organise mine :-)

Hya all of You,yes Secret Squirrel if you will please
I have only just picked up doing my tree again and see what a mess it is.
I have it on the computer but do like to have the hard copies to take with me to Records offices to nudge my memory.
I have ring binders and have started by putting into families, then I get muddled and think should I have put that family or there---you know what I mean.
I suppose as long as I understand it.
The certificates are in a separate file but really I think they should be in the same file as the family.
I only worked in an office in my teens, then was a Nurse so paper work isn't easy to me

I use a large file with pockets and then divide the family into 8 - from each of my gt grandparents. I keep the more recent trees etc. in another pocket as I haven't done much on that. I have certs. in another, other whole family stuff eg fan charts in another and a mess in the other pockets! Within the families I keep organising it by date, and keep messing it up as well. It sort of works but I am at a relatively early stage.

Still hoping to get to NYRO some time Ann but time wiht mum always goes too quickly!
