Hi,

George was a Greenwich Pensioner according to the 1871 Census.

"By the 19th century it was found preferable to pay out pensions and in 1869 the Hospital closed.

Records of Greenwich Pensioners are held at The National Archives, Ruskin Avenue, Kew, Richmond, Surrey."

Yes they should be unless it's a really early date.
I have two from 1870 and 1871 but I had to go to Kew and search the Seamans Tickets for another dated 1845

I have searched the national archives on line naval document records for George Hardy born 1818 in Stoke Damerel who on the 1881 census was listed as a naval pensioner, I can find his grandson named George William Hardy born 1868 in the archives but not the earlier one.Can anyone tell me if the earlier records are on line .
