Hi Caz
been away for the day so not been on the site. The Macleods went to the islae of harris hundreds of years ago and where the first setlers on the island im not sure about McCubbin but my cousin and her husband now live in Ayr just up the road from Robert Burns house!!!! I will email him and ask him for some information he has done some of his tree.
A good site to go to about the MacLeods is Clan MacLoed society in google that will give you their history. i will google McCubbin and see what i can find and get back to you

I would be fascinated Fi, it seems likely if they were from the IOM that there is a link. When did they go to Scotland?

Hi Caz
I have a McCubbin in my family He married my cousin and they are scottish my cousin is from the Isle of Harris and I think her husband came from Aberdeen. Although its spelt the Irish way it stil means son of Cubbin. The Harris people began with MacLeod and his people from The Isle of Man!!!!!! do you think there might be a connection there somewhere it would be interesting to find out if there is one day i might have a look and see what I can find

Hi Ellan,

Sorry, been having my tea lol thanks for the info I will c & p it for later if you don't mind. I am not sure which area my aunty lived/worked yet so will have to do some more investigation first.

Did you go to the nursery at Mooragh Park? or is that new? it must have been great growing up there, I am so jealous, There is something for everyone at the park from old to young,

When did you last visit? I can understand your envy when I announced I was visiting lol

Sorry Caz, I seem to have taken over your thread.
