Bit of trial and error and I managed to merge the records and import the new file...success! Thanks again.

OK thanks Titus and to you too Brian. I'm just downloading PAF now so I will have a go, it sounds fairly simple now it's been explained. Thankfully I won't have to type 200+ people's details out again then...I think I'd just have had to live with the problem!

There is no way to directly input to link recurring links on GR.

I have the same problem of different generations of the same two families intermarrying.

I use PAF at home and find it very easy to use and it DOES support multiple relationships.

You could use it to carry out Titus's tip.

aha this problem seems similar to mine- i have just discovered that two Robinson siblings in my tree married two Walden siblings and now i have duplicate records of one person. so just to confirm, there is no way to link the second couple as married in my GR tree?

The GR tree won't let you. You will have to duplicate the names.

You might want to consider using a package such as FTM on your PC. Thus supports multiple relationships, such as the marriage of cousins, rather than adding details manually to GR. Periodically you upload a gedcom to the site to update your treeon here.
