How do you get free bmd after about 1910

You can access bmd records on findmypast website.

It is pay-to-view, but for £5.00 you get 50 units........which allows you quite a lot of searching

Can you give us one example of previously found info and then not found by you and tell us exactly what you did?

I mean, may sound ridiculous, but do you choose the right event - birth, death or marriage in the top box before you entered the info??

Sometimes less is more....ie. don't put too much information in, when requesting a search.

Go to this link, fill in the type of search and just a name and rough range of dates.

Not all the records are on freebdm yet.

They are still transcribing some births and marriages prior to 1920.

Margaret,

I have occasionally had the same problem but it is usually because I have hastily transposed the forenames and surnames.

Hi Margaret

I only find mine on Ancestry.

There are a few offers around for 3 day or 14 day free trials so perhaps you could go for one of those & get your refs.

there is also a monthly offer for ancestry so just to one months - if you haven't found them in the free trial period!

FreeBMD covers up to about 1920 now but no further. Anything after this is on Ancestry and you have to pay for it.

Can you give us an example of someone who you couldn't find but is on freeBMD?

Also, depending where your relatives are from, some sites have their own BMD sites. Such as www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk or www.cheshirebmd.org.uk.

Hi

I've recently been asking for searches for GRO ref's after 1910ish because when I've tried to get this info nothing comes up.

Thanks to a couple of members I've been successful in receiving the said ref's and the members say that I can find them easily myself.

Yesterday I tried doing a 'double' check on a relative that I already had the info for and again I could find nothing.

What am I doing wrong.??

I can get into free bmd, type in search and then the persons name and details but then it comes up search unsuccessful or no records found - can't be right because genes members have already passed the info on to me from free BMD.

I have quite a few 'recent' family members that I could do with getting birth certs but without joining expensive ancestry I seem to be getting no where very fast.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
