Hi Liz,

This says Annuiant.

It means he is receiving a pension or something from somewhere.

Hi all you wonderful people,

I was wondering if someone could help me with looking at some original census records on ancestry please.

I'm looking at William Asbury on the 1851 and 1861 census. Born Walton 1873/1874 respectively. He's living in the civil parish of Shipley. On both censuses his occupation reads Retired Gardener and something else is written but I can't make sense of what else it says. (on 1841 he's down as Ind (which I take to mean living on independent means)

Thanks for any help in advance.
Liz
