I see that you have typed Allmann and Allman, is it with 1 n or 2 as I have found some births for Maddox with Allman as a maiden name.

I have checked on Familyrelatives for you and there are no Maddox births with maiden name of Allmann up to 1920. When was your gran born?

Thanks Heather so do i. my nan is 85 now bless her and i love her to bits. Shes being more curious now shes getting older shes talking alot about wishing she knew if she had any family from her side and i would like to be able to tell her something if i can. Pauline.xx.

I always feel sad for people who have that sort of conundrum in their family tree - I think Ive been very fortunate with my lot always being goody goodies.

Thanks Heather and Susan my nan is directly related to Annie Allman but as my nan was put in a orphanage at the age of 5 she didn't know her mother and her fathers name was not on her birth certificate. So i know its a long shot but i was wondering if my nan had any bros or sis. My nan took her mothers name Annie Allman so im not even sure if William Maddox is her father. Thanks again Pauline.

You would need to look through the bmd index - the complete one - on ancestry if you have a sub or take a free trial (but a full sub is so worth while). Youd have to find all the Maddox births with the mother named as Allmann. Luckily the mothers maiden names are shown on births from 1911 onwards in the index.

Alternatively you could do the same but by a name search (which would be much easier) with those details for the period up to 1920 on familyrelatives.org - its pay to view.

Ultimately you would have to buy all the certs to be 100% that this is the right Maddox father and Allman mother but they are reasonably unusual names and unless the children are direct relatives personally I wouldnt go to the expense.

I was wondering if it is at all possible to find out if a
William Maddox who married a Annie Allmann in 1915 in the quarter 0f oct-nov-dec in Staffordshire had any children or where i would look to find out the info please any comments would be gratefully received. Thanks Pauline.
