David, there's no such thing as a "femal-satomer" - the words don't exist in the English language.

If you look at the image carefully, you'll see it clearly says "general labourer". You need a bit of practice in deciphering old-fashioned scrawly writing.

hi guys sorry was away for your remarks , yes you got right fella but it does have him as genral labourer/femal-satomer ,my wife wonders if this is related to silk weavingect as some of family worked in the mills ? cheers dave

You're right Paul - if you're not used to reading old writing that's what it looks like. That's why I'm pretty sure that's the Stephen Higgins that David means.

I can't find anything even vaguely similar on any old occupations site. Where did it come from, it sounds as if it is a bad mis transcription.
