I have Mary Spencer married in Chester-le-Street Durham to my great grandfather which ties in with these detatils.

I also have Thomas as a Coal Miner.

Yes I do believe these are the same people.

Thomas Spencer born abt 1868

Matilda Spencer (nee) Carlton abt 1868

I know they married 1885 Sunderland. I think they settled in Chorlton where they had at least one child named Mary although she was known to people as Ann.
