Or have a look on the census to see who lived there - enter the village name only and then trawl looking at the addresses and occupations.

On an orchard my dad used to own , there is a tumbledown brick building , according to locals it was a shop in the late 1800's , does anyone have any idea how I can check this , and if there is a list of such small businesses. thankyou one and all in anticipation !
