Hi there I currently live in Spain and have bought 2 lots of credit to search the the records for my family. For some reason it wont let me view the information that tries to down load. I have a split family from when I was 8 months old so dont know much from my mothers side and little info from my fathers as he has died and so have my grandparents so beig a bit new to this I would love anyone that has experience in all this to give me a hand.
So interested in doing it all as I know my family goes over the water to Ireland.
Would love to hear from anyone who could give me any info on how to research it the easiest way.
Thanks Tracie

Hi Tracie,.
Where have you bought your credit from, GR? I suppose you still have credit left? I haven´t bought credit from Genes as I hate being restricted by what I can search for. So what info do you have and what would you like to have? Anna

PS I live in Spain too, near Malaga, where are you?

Tracie

When starting your family tree, you have to start with yourself. Look at your birth cert and it will have your Mothers maiden name.

Then you have to find her birth reg. Do know her DOB?

If you do, you can buy her birth cert and that too will have her parents names also her mothers maiden name.

So on and so on....

You could also look for your parents marriage. That kills two birds with one stone! You get BOTH parents names that way.

Never pay more than £7 for a cert.

You will get stuck when/if your line goes back to Ireland though. Not too many records.

Good luck and dont give up.

Another tip....

Feel free to ask for look ups on here and save your money with GR credit!

Dont put info of living people on the boards.

If you click on a members name it will enable you to send a private message to that person. Then it's Ok to ask about a look up for someone most recent.

Hope I put that so you understand?

If your really serious about doing your tree, Join Ancestry. It's about £70/80 for one year but you get all you need and more!
