im trying to find the name in a marriage,and im having no luck.
THOMAS MORGAN B1835 AXMINSTER TORQUAY DEVON.
MARRIED ANNA M. B 1840 GUERNSEY CHANNEL ISLANDS.

im wondering because she was born in the channel islands,that im having a problem finding her last name.
can anyone advise me please.

The fact she was born in Guernsey shouldn't cause any problems with a search in the marriage indices.

However if they married in the Channel Islands then you won't find it there and will need to look into researching Channel Island BMDs.

Can you post the details you have and maybe someone can better advise.

Joy, presumably you've found them on the 1871? They're on there with several children, all of whom were born in Devon (of course they could still have married back in Guernsey, where she came from).

I've checked all the marriages backwards from 1867, when their first child was born, until 1860 without much luck. There are a couple in Stoke Damerel, which is near Plymouth, and too far away if they were living in the Torquay area. There is also one in the fourth quarter of 1862 in Totnes, Devon. It could possibly be the right one but Totnes and Torquay are about 10 miles apart.

Too late to do any more tonight, I'm going cross-eyed, sorry!
