i am trying to get any info on a mary stopforth,born in altcar near ormskirk,lancashire.i think she was my g,g ,grandmother but i cant get anywhere. she was born around 1812 in Aughton,lancs.has anyone any advice please?she was married to robert swift and they had a son richard swift,born in 1834 in Altcar,lancs. thanks.

If one of her children is your direct Ancestor.....then so is she...........

You have given two different birthplaces for this woman...which is correct?

hi reggie,thanks for replying.mary was living in Aughton in 1834 when she had richard swift.i do not know if she was born there. she was married to robert swift. thanks pat

She might have been born in Ormskirk....marriages usually were in the brides parish, and people moved around less in those days.
