Have been trying for 18 months to find my GGF, know he married my GGM in 1912 and he died in 1926, he worked on the Southend Belle Paddle Steamer. His father's name was George who was deceased at the time of the marriage in 1912, he is listed as Ships Steward Merchant Navy (Deceased). Can't find my GGF in either the 1881, 1891 or 1901 census and can't find his birth which I guess was about 1879 to 1883 judging by the age on his marriage and death certificates. His name was John William Slater also known as Jack. Any advise of where to go and check would help, I feel I need to solve this and it is driving me mad. HELP. Dawn
