I've just got birth cert for

Ray Wakefield b 9 Jan 1926. with parents:-

William Wakefield (Henry is very possibly his middle name but
not on the Cert.)

and

Harriet Emma Wakefield nee BEVAN.

BEVAN is the mothers name for all 5 Children.

The eldest daughter was born 1912, I've looked through Ancestry's BMD records from 1900 to 1920, and Free bmd, but cannot find a marriage between them.

Harriet came from Glamorgan, but not sure about William.

All eyes very much appreciated.
Thanks Maggie

Perhaps they never married at all.

I'd wondered whether Harriet had married more than once, but if the 1888 birth is hers, probably not...........

Yes Reggie,

Agnes E Wakefield is the first child.
Lily M Wakefield 1919
Richard J 1923 Twin
William H 1923 Twin he died young.
Raymond 1926.

I did wonder if the mother Harriet Emma Bevan married before and perhaps never married william Wakefield.

The only other puzzling info is, before I sent for Raymonds Birth Cert, Raymond seem to think his mother's maiden name was Rowland or Rawlings.
Perhaps that was the person she first married.

Harriet Emma Bevan died when he was about 5, so he was orphaned out to different rellies, so he does not remember a lot of things.

Could be one of the rellies Surname was Rowland or Rawlings.

Thanks for all your tips, I,ll try looking at Bevan married to Rowland, could be a sister.

Perhaps her Maiden name was Harriet Emma Rowland and she married a BEVAN,
and said Bevan was her maiden name on the Birth Cert,
I'll have to ask my Step Father Raymond what else he can remember.
He told me the address where he remembered living as a boy and it was exactly as came back on his birth Cert.
14 Thomas St, Garden Village, Gilfach Goch,
Llantrisant, Glam.

Found Harriet E Wakefield:- Death, Pontypridd age 45.
So that's something to go on.

Thanks everyone Maggie
