Non-Parochial

I have just discovered a new web site which has some records pre-1837, and have just discovered birth registers for 4 of my ancestors! It is expensive to buy credits, but you may discover records you would otherwise never knew existed. The records include non-parochial, Nonconformist, Fleet and overseas registers, a standard search is free so it is well worth a look. www.BMDRegisters.co.uk.

Please can someone tell me what non-parochial means?

Well not actually non religious just not in the Parish church, ie not Church of England - the entries are taken from registers kept by ministers in Baptist and other non CofE churches.

I can't access the website - anyone else able to view it?

Are you sure it was this site? It works fine for me.

I don't use IE, though, so I don't get dicey pop-ups or viruses as a rule.

Thanks for your comments.

I found details of the site in Practical Family History mag and the site is also sponsored by the NA, so I can't see it being dodgy.

Another question for you: I have just paid my annual membership to Ancestry.co.uk Have any of you upgraded to UK Membership for an extra tenner? Just wondering how much more you can get for the extra money, and is it worth it?
