relatives on ships on 1891 census

hi does anyone no how to find my gt gfather who i believe was on some sort of training ship round about the time of the 1891 census, he was in a work house (on 1881 census) and sent to be an "apprentice at sea "i cant find him anywhere between 1881 and 1891 but can find him on 1901 census.I have been to our local archives and seen his indeture but where is he the rest of the time.

His names is Walter daniel curtis born may 1873 Newington Kent i also cant find a birth reg but have his marriage and death cert

where is he from 1881 to 1901 ???????? any tips where to look

hi alice thanks so much for the info how on earth did u find him ive been looking for about 18months im so gratefull but i still cant find a birth reg thanks again

hi lynne there is no fathers name im afraid thats why im finding it so hard to find a birth reg

alice im confused as one says borth is newington kent and the other is completely different ? regards susan
