After Stat Reg in 1855-actually if you have BMD in 1855 then you are in for a treat more info than in any other year.eg all children listed on a death certificate,how long you have lived in the place of death where you lived before etc.
They are not infallible as the info is only as good as the informant.My GGGreat-Grandfather gave the wrong place of marriage on his 1855 sons birth certificate but from it we discovered a previously unknown & unnamed daughter who must have died before being christened.
The pre Stat Reg OPRs contain varying info from the basic -male child born to William Smith to William Smith Ag Lab of Smith Farm & his lawful wife
Abigail Veitch had their child Alexander Cameron Veitch christened this day.
If a couple marrying lived in two different parishes then usually Father's names are given.It varies from Parish to Parish.
Some do have deaths & this may be about to come online at ScotlandsPeople just watch that space.!
St Quicvocks in Ayr has fabulous death records which make interesting reading even if like me you can find no ref to whom you are looking for.

Apologies if you've tried this already - go for the tab "What's in the Database?" on Scotlands people, then "Images", then "Statutory Registers" which has some tables giving the dates you need - and the same thing for the "Old Parish Registers". Can't tell you offhand, because I have to keep going back to check if I need it myself!

I am tracing my friends family tree and they were from Scotland. I have being using the Scots people website and they have parents names on marriage certificates and death certificates. Does anyone know what date this started. As there are two different sections for newer ones and older records. So if anyone knows for the Scotland records at which date this kind of information started being added to the certificates i would be very grateful.
