Can any one tell me if the census is carried out at the time i.e month each 10 years example is it always carried out in March?
so if someone was 2 months old you would now they were born in Jan that year. Or are they just carried out any old time?

1841 6th/7th June
1851 30th/31st March
1861 7th/8thApril
1871 2nd/3rd April
1881 3rd/4th April
1891 5th/6th April
1901 31st march/1st April
Census taken for people in the home on the night of the first date. Hope that makes sense.

Census Dates

A census was taken to record those living in a household at midnight on a Sunday. The dates of the census varied from year to year.

* Sun/Mon. 6/7th June 1841
* Sun/Mon. 30/31st March 1851
* Sun/Mon. 7/8th April 1861
* Sun/Mon. 2/3rd April 1871
* Sun/Mon. 3/4th April 1881
* Sun/Mon. 5/6th April 1891
* Sun/Mon. 31st March / 1st April 1901
