Can anyone please help me. I ahve just started out tracing my Dads side of the FT. I have got back to my GGG Grandfather using the census but I am having trouble with my Grandfather. I know when he was born, when he died, his parents names, but wanted to try and trace any siblings. I cannont seem to find him on the 1901 Census (born 1900) or any trace of his father after the 1871 census when he was 3. Can anyone offer any advice on where to look next?

William Saunders born c1868 in Shoreditch, Middlesex,(which is now London)

Nmaes areas, dates, etc etc and no doubt someone will have a look for you

I've found familyrelatives(com) very useful for finding siblings during this period. You'll need to invest in a few units but then you can search for all Saunders born in Shoreditch from 1898 (presumably the earliest date) up to 1920 - after 1911 the mother's maiden name was registered so if you can find that out you're almost certain that the ones you find belong the right parents.. Pre-1911 it's slightly more difficult but if you want to send off for the certificates of possible siblings you can include the mother and father's names as a condition.

Sorry - it's probably not Shoreditch you should be looking in but the district they were living in 1901. I think I might have found William's marriage to Catherine Amelia Barratt in Dec Q 1898 Camberwell ref 1d 1509.
