You need to order his birth certificate - here are the details Albert George Patient, born Hackney Dec quarter 1899. Vol 1b, page 513. His cert will give both parents names, unless he was illegitimate, in which case it will probably only give mothers name.

My Grandfather Albert George Patient B1899 shows up on the 1901 census with his brothers Walter, Charles, James and sister Lily born in Hackney. Mother shown as Mary Ann Patient who i believe was born in Shoreditch London c1868 but no maiden name and there doesnt seem to be a husband for Mary

Im trying to trace the Patient's back for my mother.

I remember being told we go way back to East Thaxted and then possibly to France !

Anyone can help me i would be really pleased.
