Thanks for your thoughts peeps. I will search again for another Zachariah Ambrose in the same/similar area, just in case.

My Dad nearly ended up on the 1991 twice.

He was at home for "the" night - 6.30 the next morning ,he had a heartache , was rushed to hospital & was there when the enumerator was writing down names.

It could be that he is the son of one family and was visiting the other family. I have a rellie pops up twice on one census - once with family and once as visitor.

Perhaps the two "fathers" are linked? brothers? It would make sense if he was visiting an uncle or something ...

Remember that on the 1841 census the adult age is rounded up or down 5 years, which would mean the first one born 1821 could well be yours, I have also read on these boards before people being listed at 2 address`s, maybe stayed at one on census night, then visited the 2nd address and the enumerator was present or arrived while they were there, and then they got included on that one as well. A bit of a long shot I know, but not impossible.

A little problem and i would appreciate some thoughts...

John and Mary Ambrose have, amongst others, two sons, Henry, (1812) and Zachariah, 1815.

In the 1841 census a Zachariah, (abt. 1821) is living with them in Billericay.

In the same census year, 1841, living with Henry and his wife and family in Chelmsford which is about 12 miles from Billericay, is a Zachariah, (abt 1821).

Both John, Zachariah and Henry are basket makers.

Is this the same son/brother ?????

If it is, I could assume that the enumerator recorded a wrong age...BUT, how could Zachariah be in two different places 12 miles apart ?????

I have not been able to find another Zachariah to fit into the picture, and I have allowed the +- in age...

My head is a little scrambled at the moment and I cannot think sensibly...view/avenues to go down very much appreciated.
