I'm hoping someone can help me.

Feel a bit cheeky asking but thought I'd give it a go.

Could someone do a look up for me on the Ships passenger list? I am looking for a Tom Nelson born about 1900 to 1910 Newburn near Newcastle Northumberland (maybe a little bit out of that time frame) who emmigrated to America in about 1925 onwards. Toms father was Edward Nelson born 1882 also in Newburn or Walbottle, which is close by. Toms Mother is Jane Nelson ( nee Taylor) I'm sorry its vague information but its all I know. I'm not sure which port they left from in this country.

I know Tom married but | don't know to who. If his wifes info is there I would be grateful to know about her too.

Tom Nelson could be my Father-in-Laws Uncle. We have only just found out about him recently.

Thank you
Janet

Janet,

There are several Thomas Nelsons who could fit the bill I am afraid. If you could find the exact year he was born, that would narrow things down.

Hi Sue,

Could you please try birth as 1905 and 1907? I hope this narrows it down. There are two Thomas's listed as being born in Castle Ward District in Northumberland. His Brother was born there.

I know its a long shot.

Thank you so much
Janet

Sorry Janet, there are still three possibilities and so not possible to accurately pinpoint which (if any) of them is your man.

If your husband still has rellies in Newcastle, they could check Ancestry.com (libraries edition) free at any Newcastle or North Tyneside library. They have USA records - so far I haven't been to check.

Hi Anne,
We don't know if there are still rellies in Newcastle. My Father-in-Law lost touch with them when he was young. We live far from there unfortunately.

Thank you for your info. I will keep it in mind.

Hi there, try the Ellis Island records immigration records or USA immigration landing records, they are quite easy to find, or try White Star Line or Red Star Line records for the passenger lists, you will have to go through them all if you are unsure of the dates.

Hi, I've lost Martin Myers Wheatley born 1876 Marylebone, he was rumoured to be on the Gold Coast in 1920, his marriage cert 1907 states traveller then later his daughter's marriage cert 1939 employment agent...I am not liking the way thats going but can't get him on the census 1901.
thanks and fingers crossed.

Thank you Jenni for your information.I will make a note of it for the future.
I placed a posting about Tom on the message boards on Ancestry and a kind soul did a look up for me and found lots on him. I'm going to pursue the information given and hopefully get in touch with a living descendent.

Thanks to you all. My fingers are crossed!
