Stacy,

If you have an address for Radcliffe-on-Trent, you could send a letter to the local newspaper there (you could Google to see what it might be), asking if any of their readers remember this family from that address and if anyone knows the whereabouts of any of them today.

I managed to find a half-sister that we didn't know my father had by doing this (after finding a second marriage for my grandfather).

Wow, what a find!
Eleanor obviously cared enough to keep the memories (organisation is a nursing trait).
Fingers crossed you can find a real home for these treasures.

I've just looked in the local Banstead phone book for a Gordon Young, but no luck.
Did you get the books from the Banstead area? If not, try looking on the BT site for directory enquiries.

hi kath
it is quite unbelievable really, and all at a cost of 3 pounds, i didnt haggle at that price !!

eleanor, or norah as she seemed to be known was a nurse. she worked very hard and became a Sisiter,
eleanor went to Bombay to work. (lots of photos )
even a menu for the Bombay Ritz Hotel...

it is just a shame that this family history has been lost somewhere.
i shall post in the trying to find, and will do a name search, could try obtaining thier son Gordons birth cert, and maybe a marriage for him, i have school reports, job card for bob-a-job week, newspaper cuttings etc for him. he went to The Aberdour School( exclusive private boys school ) in the Brighton Road, Banstead
someone somewhere must know this family..

I can't believe that people get rid of this kind of thing. I just wish it belonged to my family.

Try the quick search boxes at the top of the page and see if anyone has these names in their tree.

hi yvette

these books are just fasinating.
i have an eleanor millar-
she seems to be from the Glasgow area of Scotland.kirkintilloch.

there are her nursing records, Royal Infirmary-Glasgow.
military pass for Bombay Docks -Jan 1945.
her Mess Pass.
RAF dance invitations,
British Army pay slip.

by looking through this she married Derek Young( certificate of Proclamation )

there is so much info, some photos have unstuck so need to go through properly and put them in some kind of order.
there is a little love note from hubby to wife ...
it seems they moved to Banstead in Surrey. i have a Building License from Banstead Urban City Council dated 24th October 1949.
also a son named Gordon on 21st March 1950, he was christened at St Davids Church, Kirkintilloch.
the family seem to be living in Banstead, Surrey

Hi stacy, if you have some certificates with people's names on that might be a start. You could put the name in the GR search site and see what comes up, do the books give any clues as to which area the family came from?
