My 4th Gt Grandmother was Peggy, ( on her marriage cert ), once once her husband died she decided to become Margaret and be a bit of a floosy, having at least one child several years after her husbands death.
She obviosly thought Margaret was a bit more up market for some reason

What Peggy being Margaret - :) I am always amazed how names come to be "shortened" - eg Henry to Harry, Mary Ann to Polly.
