Could it be 'Sawyer', someone who saws timber to boards?

In 1871 his occupation looks like Sawyer and I think its the same in 1861

Could some kind person, with better eyes, take a quick look at the 1871 census for John Middleton
b 1811 in hodnet Shropshire please i can't make
out his occupation?? On 1861 Census it looks like "Pauper"
