This sounds really promising!!
It does state on the marriage cert that his father was alive at the time and he was a labourer.
Many thanks for the info I will keep digging!!

On the 1841 Census I did a search on William Wilcox in Bucks. Only two entries show up. This one might well be your 3xgrt grandfather given that he's in Burnham where your 2xgrt grandfather was born.

Burnham, Bucks

William Wilcox 65
Mary 65
Eliza 30

This William was listed as Born in County.

The other entry is for a William Wilcox aged 60 yrs living in Datchet, Bucks.

On the marriage cert you have for 1839, does William state that his father was deceased or not? If deceased, then forget about the above entries. If alive in 1839, what was his father's occupation?

The IGI doesn't appear to have any entries for a William Wilcox for 1776 +/- 5yrs born in BUCKS.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks for the info so far.
I am trying to trace gt gt gt grandfather, I know his name was William Wilcox as I have his son (my gt gt grandfather ) marriage certificate.
My gt gt grandfather was also called William and believe he was born in Burnham, Buckinghamshire abt 1813. He married Mary Start in 1839 in the Parish of Wexham, Bucks.

It's worth looking in the IGI on familysearch.org
But in my experience it gets very difficult to find records when you get back that far.
Who are you looking for?

Michelle - it all depends on which area of the UK they were based. Some parish records have been transcribed and put online, other records are available to purchase by mail order in book/fiche/cd form, and the rest is just a case of having to visit local records centres to trawl through all the parish records manually.

If you give us an idea of the location, we might be able to be a bit more specific as to where you can start making enquiries.

Another novice here trying to trace decendants from the early to late 1700´s. Not living in the U.K., can someone please guide me in the right direction for any type of records, info etc, so as I can continue to trace my ancestors.
Any info would gratefully be received.
Thanks
