British Origins - advice please

I subscribe to British Origins. I have always been happy with it and have the Tiff application downloaded to view images.
Every now and then I have a message come up to say that a new version of Tiff is available and would I like to download it. Up to now I have said no, I was quite happy with what I already have. Now I have noticed that I can't view Boyds London inhabitants as to an error coming up and then the said message appearing.
What I would like to know, is there anyone else on here who subscribes to BO, who has downloaded the new version and if so, have they encountered any problems.

I am wondering if eventually I will have to download it whether I want to or not.
