Lynda

There are several marriages for Ann Phillips in Wolverhampton around the right timescale. Have you ordered any of these? If you know her father's name (from her christening record) then you can put that down as a reference check for the GRO.

She may not necessarily have died after giving birth, so you need to rule out a marriage once she was of age.

The other thing is that even if you cannot find a marriage for her, it may be that she lived with someone as his wife, in which case it would be extremely difficult to locate her on a census.

Id have thought it you specified it to be 19 years old single girl then you could email or phone them for the usual reduction in cost if the pointers are not correct?

Meanwhile give us the details of this girl to see if anyone can throw light on the subject.

Have never been able to find 3xG Grandmother on the 1851 census for Staffordshire. In 1843, aged 16, she had a love child who was bought up by her brother. Being anxious to trace her I have been sending for certificates, both marriage and death. For the marriage cert have used her Fathers name as the check, and for the death cert have used single as the check. Well my first death cert came today, for a widow. Have I got cause for complaint? Is widow same as single?
