Thomas Wigg appears in the 1871 Census as a prisoner in Ely Gaol, saying he was born in Croxton NFK about 1836. Apparently the records are gone so I have no hope of finding out what he was in for, but I would like to know what he said his occupation was and I can't read it!

Can anyone help? He was a farm bailiff in 1861 and by 1881 he had moved to Staffordshire and reinvented himself completely, so there's no continuity to give me a clue.

Thanks in anticipation

Sheila
