These are the only to entries that come up on Ancestry - both births:-

Name Year of Registration Quarter of Registration Mother's Maiden Name District County

Albert J Kam-Chow 1913 Jan-Feb-Mar - Gearing - Poplar (To 1965) Greater London, London, Middlesex

May D F Kam-Chow 1914 Jan-Feb-Mar - Gearing - Poplar (To 1965) Greater London, London, Middlesex

There doesn't seem to be any census entries on the 1901 census for that name.

My Wife's Grand Father was half Chinese and his surname was Kamchow. This name was also used when my Wife's Mother and her Sister were born, however due to the children being bullied for having a strange name, it was changed in the 1950's to an Anglo name....Kendall.

I have found my Mother in Law listed in birth records with the name Kamchow, but sadly can find no other Kamchow's either in any of the censuses or BDM records. I would particularly like to discover when the arrival of the first member of the Kamchow family to England was, but I am unsure how to do this. Approximate dates would be around the turn of the century, but sadly there are no surviving immediate members of the family to ask about this.

Does anyone have any idea where I could find this information. Presumably there is some kind of immigration register, and as the name is a fairly unusual one I would hope to be able to find some further information.

Any help would be gratefully received.
