I am looking for the marriage of a George Mawdsley c1800 and have found two, in the right place etc. the wives are...Jane Right in 1825 and Jenny Wright in 1825. Is this a bit of wrong transcribing, or are they completely different people???

Your thoughts please.

Where did you find the info?

If it was on the IGI........are the records 'submitted'? Or 'extracted'?

I've just checked the IGI and both entries are submitted, although the entry for "Jane Right" has source information supplied but strangely doesn't give the date of marriage, whereas the entry that doesn't have source info does give a marriage date.

I think they are one and the same person but you would need to check the parish register to see if her name was actually Jane or Jenny (I know that on my tree I have someone who was referred to as Jean/Jane/Jenny at various times).

There is also another variation of spelling on those marriage entries - with Mawdsley/Maudsley.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am going through my many bits of paper asigning details where I think they should go and this was some info I obtained some time ago. It was IGI and that is why I did not put too much store by the result, but now that I want to "tidy" up some info I wanted some thoughts before I go down the path of requesting more concrete evidence.

I have a number of instances of girls whose given name was Jane......but were called Jenny by the family.
