It's free to join but there is a subscription section also which may be benificial to you especially if you need personal look-ups. The Mitchell is the correct place for the Poor Law records and they are excellent - one I saw even gave the details of an adoption in 1923 but this was via Quarrier Homes.

Member Since: July 2003 Posts: 5 Send Message	Wondering if anybody has any idea about scottish poor law records being available to the public for the 20th century 1914 approx to be precise. Also for catholic church records of the same year. I have tried e-mailing twice the Mitchell Library and have received no reply whatsoever. Also does anybody the name of any Catholic Children's Societies in Glasgow at that time as the one in Liverpool has no record of her. Any help gratefully appreciated as these would be the only real leads in trying to find out where my grandmother came from. She was born in the Glasgow area in 1914 and then fostered via a Scottish priest into a Liverpool family. This is the only side I cannot get any further back on.
