Trying to help a friend with her family history.

We have James STREATER in 1871 with his known family where James is listed as a Hair Dresser:

James Sheater 40
James P Sheater 10
Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 381; Folio: 6; Page: 11; GSU roll:

Think James (aged 19) in 1851 with brother Henry (b 1844) and parents James and Mary Ann and family in Saffron Hill (Nr Holborn London) is the same one - wondering if someone can tell me what James' occupation is in 1851 please - hoping it's Hair Dresser!!

Thanks,

Maggie

Sue,

Thanks SO much!! In a later census, after being widowed and remarried, there is a probable James listed as a Fur Dresser. James' son George Frederick listed in a couple of censuses as first Lather Boy and then Hair Dresser - maybe if I can find James' occupation in 1861 (should be married with children Eliza, Charlotte and Emily) that will help complete the picture.

Thanks for your help.

Sue,

Thanks - am sure it is the same chap - there aren't any others the right age in the right place, and the combined occupations seem to fit.

Thanks.

Maggie
