Do you mean FTM (Family Tree Maker)?

Anyway, whichever program you're using, it won't let you enter children without two parents. If you don't know who the father was, you'll have to call him "Unknown Unknown" or something of the kind.

In the case of divorce, click on the pencil icon alongside the marriage (it'll say "Edit Marriage Details" when you hover over it with the mouse). Then change the status to divorced. You only need to do it once.

To add a base child to a lady who has never been married simply just enter the child's details in the lined area on the bottom 1/2 of the FTM screen.
If the lady later marries, click on the "spouse" button under her birth & death details then "create a new spouse" & enter husband's details as normal.

In the case of the lady that married, then had a base then remarried- enter husband 1 & chldren as normal, now press "spouse" "create a new spouse". Enter the child's details, now press "spouse" "create a new spouse" & enter 2nd husband's details along
with his children.

System may ask if you want to attach child to new partner so remember to press "no"

Hi,
Hope I've put this on the right board.
I'm trying to enter some details on my FTF tree programme and hope someone can help me please.

I've got several illigitimite (sp) children to enter on my tree and dont know how to do it.
A few of them are first borns and the mother went on to marry someone else a few years later. How do I enter the illigitimite child without adding her mother's husband on?

Also, I have an ancestor who married and had 6 kids, then her husband died. She then had a child to an unknown man, then re-married someone else and had more kids.
How do I enter the illigitimite child without entering a father for her?

Finally, how do you show on the tree that a couple have divorced?
Some of them I don't know the year when they divorced. Also do you put divorced for both man and woman?
Hope all this makes sense :-)
