Could they have emigrated?

Just realised that list is from 1871 - possibilities

The National Archives 1901, are the first numbers the age of the person, if so they are all too young.

Thanks for the IGI instructions, I'll take a look at that and it's good to know for the future.

Thanks for all your help.

The children were Samuel 1851, John 1855 and Mary 1857 all born in Bishopsgate. I don't think they all died as I have a marriage for John to Elizabeth Harvey and they had 3 children, John 1892, Harry 1895 and Lily 1896 all born in Bethnal Green.

I haven't checked for a second marriage for Mary Arnold. Both Arnold and Mary are such common names I think this one's going to take a long time.
Thanks COTC

John, his wife Mary (nee Best) and three children are on 1861 Census but they have all vanished by 1871. Didn't give it a thought that she could have remarried had he died but then surely the 3 children would still be traceable under the name ARNOLD???

Linda Report 13 Oct 2007 22:27

It's John Arnold born 1826 that I'm trying to follow, any suggestions???

So, working backwards - who are you following in this family? - so we know someone actually lived beyond 1861?

Linda

Linda Report 12 Oct 2007 17:55

Yes Gerri,
That's them but can't find them after 1861 ???

Sorry to take so long to answer Shirley, I've only just managed to get on here. I can't find my John on 1871 or any of his family, the one you found I think is the generation before. The death you found, I sent for that cert. and it was the wrong one, I have also bought another one 4thqtr. 1862 Vol 1c Page 159 which was also the wrong one. Any other ideas please???

If so his death should be recorded in the ten year period betwwen . if its not on Freebmd then you may need to look at the FULL index on Ancestry

Can anyone help please, I'm searching for John Arnold born 1826 in Shoreditch. I have him from birth up until 1861 Census with his family, wife Mary, children Samuel, John and Mary. I can't find a death or anything of him after this.
Any help appreciated.
