I have just discovered a wonderful site for those with ancesters from Stockport that died in the 1st World War www(.)stockport1914-1918(.)co.uk/ remove brackets. It includes more than 2800 names of those who died and many biographies.

I found my grandmothers first husband and details of his war service. They had only been married a few months and he died when in leave probably from war wounds. I hadn't realised she woke up to find he had died in the night! Poor soul!!
