Yes, I got excited over a Sommers Hodgson given as a witness at a 1795 wedding - actually found him in historical directories as an attorney at law in Southwark (where the church was). DOH, he was a witness on lots on marriages there - no doubt a clerk or something.

Apart from above you will get the status of the couple - i.e. single, widowed but thats it.

Thanks - what can I expect to see for a 1822 marriage, fathers name? groom place of birth? or is that just wishful thinking????

Hi all, me again, making the best use of free time on computer!
I've just looked on Ancestry for a marriage pre 1837 and its come up with a likely one on Pallots.First one I've found there.

When I look at the detail it's a photo of the surname (actually for the same date there is a photo of both surnames in the marriage).
What do I do now? Does it mean there is a record I can send for?

On the results page there are lots with both first and surname, am I just unlucky not to get both my ancestor's names?
