Can anyone explain to me why I can't find a birth record please? The person is Alfred John Winterson born Wilts 1849. Also I can't find him on the census prior to 1891, when he was in Liverpool. Nor can I find record of his marriage to Elizabeth Sanders. Is there likely to be a gap or am I doing something wrong?

As you say " still lookin " he didn't care for the Alfred part of his name but it didn't stop him passing it on though.
