Where was Barrow in Furness Pre- Cumbria?

This may seem an odd question but which county was Barrow-in-Furness in before the boundary changes?
I'm trying to trace my grandparents' marriage and I think they may have been married in Barrow. However I don't know where to start looking! Family legend has it they eloped from Tyrone, Northern Ireland so it may be they married somewhere along the way - who knows?
Any help would be appreciated.

It is down as Lancashire on the Genuki website.

What are their names and about when do you think they married?

Thanks Kath
I hadn't looked there but I tried Lancs BMD with no luck.
Their names were James Brown born Cranagh, County Tyrone 1878 and Bridget McCullough/ McCollogh born Cranagh 1889. Working back from their eldest child I think they must have been married about 1910-1915. Neither my father nor his three surviving sisters seem to know the date or place of marriage. It's easier finding marriages in the 18th century!
Cheers

And some Barrovian's will still adamently tell you it's still lancashire *chuckles* my mum still maintains such a stance lol.

On the original images of the indexes it is down as 'Barrow F' if that helps.

There's a 1909 Dec Q James Brown marrying in Barrow (vol.8e p.1434), but the page has no females listed (probably mistranscribed).

lol Jane. Mum and I were born in the same town, but she was born in Lancashire and I was born in cumbria. lol.

I find that Ancestry very kindly double categorises it, so it should come up if you put cumbria or lancashire. As for boundaries... I'm clueless lol.

Never used Rootsweb for searching. Ancestry is the most convenient I find, at least for me, because if they're not yet transcribed you can still search the original images.

Thanks Summer Scribe, that's the only clue I have so far. I thought I'd double check with my Dad but he has no clue - in fact he went as far as to say that they may not have married at all! How do I get over that one when I'm trying to trace further back!!

Just a thought, if they came from Co Tyrone to England, the most probable route would have been across the Irish sea to Scotland. Maybe they married in Scotland (no banns required)

Thanks Potty
My next step might be in that direction or I may contact remaining aunties and see if I can jog their memories a bit more successfully than I did with my Dad's.
