Sorry for yet another questin, but can anyone give me some advice.
My g.g grandfather was called John Trewhella. i have his marriage cert to my g.ggrandmother Emily Thomas in Sep1888 aged 22. so his birth year was c1866, They were married in Liverpool, his address is in Liverpool, Emily was from Llanelly.

My grandmother doesnt seem to think John is from Liverpool she is sure he is from Devon/Cornwall area. But as he was a marine engineer she belives he was working in the docks there. His father is named as Martin Trewhella who was a farm bailiff.

John and Emily had a daugther in Nov 1888 Caroline Evelina (My grandmas mother).
Between 1889 and 1891 we belive he was lost at sea.

Ive found John Trewhellas in the 1871 census but the dates dont match by 4 years and then there is no fathers name in the 1881 census so i dont know if this is the correct person as i dont know his mothers name.

Please help coz i dont know where to go from here!

There is deffently a link between the 1881 census and the 1871 entry. The names are similar and ages. But some of the dates are also out.
