Member Since: August 2007 Posts: 157 Send Message	Adoptions before 1927 were often carried out privately between families, by parish officers, Board of Guardians of the local Poor Law Union or charities. There are no indexes open to the public. You could try the local records offices for Poor Law Union Records. GRO has indexes from 1927 which are held at FRC in London.
