Hello. Can anyone tell me where to start looking for an adoption that took place in 1915. Thank you.

Patricia

Adoptions before 1927 were often carried out privately between families, by parish officers, Board of Guardians of the local Poor Law Union or charities. There are no indexes open to the public. You could try the local records offices for Poor Law Union Records.

GRO has indexes from 1927 which are held at FRC in London.

Hi Pam,

If you relative was adopted shortly after birth and you can say where, I might be able to suggest possible orgaisations.
