If you put your tree on Tribal pages there is a gadget that works out what relation, its a free site but I think details become their property, not sure .

My method :-

For each person write down the relationship to the first common ancestor

for example Arthur and Bertha

Arthur is a Great Great Great Grandson (4Gs)
Bertha is a Great Great Granddaughter (3Gs)

Bertha has least Gs, therefore relation is 3rd cousin

There is 1G difference, therefore once removed

Great Romany, have always been totally confused about how many times removed cousins are. Hopefully this'll keep me right!

For those who are lazy, if you have tree program such as FTM it will work it out for you.
