There were no such things as birth certs in 1830, and even by 1846, many births were simply not registered, as it wasn't compulsory until 1875.

If you can find the marriage entry on findmypast, and obtain the cert, it will tell you the name and occupation of each of their fathers......thus, one hopes, making a search for them less hit and miss.

My Gt Grandfather/Mother George Henry Martin b. 1830 and Matilda Orr b. 1846 where married in India in 1871, had a daughter Emma b.1875 in India, she married my grandfather Thomas Waller in India 1891, both men where in the army out there, I would like to get my Gt Grandparents b. certs but have no idea where they came from in the uk, or what there parents or siblings names were , any suggestions please.
