I have a John Milton born in 1794 in Witley Surrey who was married to an Elizabeth (unknown maiden name) who was born about 1798 in Throwley Surrey.

Their first child to my knowledge, Arthur was born in about 1821 in Witley, Surrey so I presume they were married shortley before.

If anybody can have a look for a marriage around this time for a John Milton and a Elizabeth in this area I would be very grateful.

Hi, yes this is them in 1841.

I have taken the Milton family right back, but as all their children were born before 1837, don't know howto find out what the mother's maiden name is.

If anybody has any ideas, I would be very grateful as I live nowhere near Surrey to visit the records office.

I couldn't find their marraige on the IGI but as she came from Thursley in Surrey and lived in Witley she should have been married locally. Could you ask for a lookup of the Parish or check the local history society. I also live the other side the country

Vicky, on the 3rd November, West Surrey FHS have their annual family history fair at Woking. Last year they had a searchable marriage index for Surrey and if you still haven't been able to find the marriage, I will have a look for you, but do remind me as it's 2 weeks away and I could forget!
