I haven't registered with Arcitext but the same stuff is available at
http://www.mirrorarchive.co.uk/Archives/portal/enter.jsp

You don't have to register to do a search just enter your term in the box. This will bring up a very small scan of the relevant page complete with a transcription of the relevant part of the text.

Once it goes live it may improve.

Hi Janet,

Have you applied to them as below then?

Part of email I received from them

'However, at present arcitext.com is exclusively available to professional researchers and writers with each request for access being considered on its merits. If you feel that your needs fall into this category, please contact us using the information provided below.'

Going to be available to general public in approx. 8 weeks

I have done some searces on that archive and I can't say I'm impressed with their text capture software. Here's one of the samples for Tocqueville

ADVENTURE FOLK LORE LABOUR &R. s TAJNE TOCQUEVILLE FROISSABT B0LIN.OBROKE TACITUS THUUHJJDKS GROTE GIBBON HUME FROUDB MACADLA'B BOCKLB CAELYLE MOMMSEN So. GUIZOT HERODOTUS J08EPHUS

As far as I'm aware, the Mirror has never published its paper in gobledegook!

Sounds like it might bridge the gap between the 1901 census and the rest of the 20th century, always a difficult area of research. Will keep an eye on it
Thanks Linda

Just had an email to say that Daily Mirror is in the last stages of testing before it goes online.

Initially dates are 1903 to present.

Don't what the charges are yet.
