I had a contact recently from the 'hot matches'. This lady (if I remember rightly) didn't have much info for me, but did say she'd seen that Mary Wynn nee Pottenger was a widow by the time of the 1841 census.

Well, I hadn't seen this myself - no wonder I couldn't trace her hubby on the census! - so I sent off for the Death Cert once I'd found the listing for it. When it came back - it all fits!

That sent me off on a 'census hunt', found the one listing her as 'ag lab. widow', and wondered what happened to her older kids ( the younger one's were still with her). Scrolling down the IGI to find possible marriages of Wynns - looking to see if older kids were now under married names - Bingo! I found the widow Mary Wynn nee Pottenger, remarrying 5 years later to a neighbour on the estate they all lived and worked on, and later censuses show them with her youngest, and their own children. I was able to go on and trace her elder children and their offspring too - happy hours, when it all comes together - worth the time spent!

So, if you're the person who dropped that little nugget into your messege to me (I can't find it in my messeges any more, don't know why) - THANK YOU!!

The moral being, you never know where a little bit of info might lead you - or someone else, so do pass on what you know, it might add up for someone!

I'm so excited!
