Can any one explain to me" Why? when i check out a marriage ...and go to the page! there are (5) people listed!!!! and not (4)?.....
I attempted to try annd find both my great grandparents "Marriage" and put in dates that i thought would be highest of chances! as i scrolled! (and may i add for ages!) i came across a entry of 3 females and two men! as being married on that date?
Hmmm!? Does that Imply that someone married someone else ?
And they are Biggarmists?....
LOL! I am curious to know the reasons behind the entry of 5 and not 4!
And i am thinking? There has to be some logical reason behind it!

There has to be a rational reason behind this! and I am anticipating someone comming forward and explaining this to " a total Novice"!

It will be a mistake, maybe one of them is entered twice,or one does not belong.
If you give enough info for us to find the page we may find the answer.

FreeBMD is transcribed by volunteers.

Two people will do the same page of entries - if there is a match then it will be shown in bold print. If for any reason one person can not quite make out the spelling of a name and shows it slightly different than you end up with two entries - which gives 5 names.

On this entry John James actually has the wrong page number and there is a second entry with the correct page number although the district is correct. Also there are two entries for Mugridge with slightly different spelling of christian name.

What year are you looking at? Prior to 1852 there were 4 marriages per page.

if you are looking for who the women married check out all the males on next census see what the wifes Christian name is same for the men not often same christian name for all of them. they are usually living same reg district and county even if not born there

I believe that at times,It is also possible that they havent got round to the "Spouses" pages yet.

If you look at the images of the index pages, you'll probably find Janes Doe's page # of, say 691 is hard to read - it almost as likely to be 631 or whatever, and then when you look at who's on 631 you'll find there's 2 guys + 1 gal. Note the image # with the dodgy transcription and report it - the image # is the authority or whatever they call it during the reporting process.

Every time I use freebmd I silently thank all the volunteers who have given their time and effort to this project. Ditto to those kind souls now working on the freereg site.
