Hi Kay , I too wish people would check the Tick box as I have never requested to view anyone's tree and I am constantly being given access in reply to a query I have made.
On the other hand I receive many request to view my tree accompanied by no other information at all. I reply saying "Can you give me more information re your link to anyone in my tree?" , a few days ago I received a reply saying I had access to their tree.....the only name on it was his own !
I have even received quite abusive replies asking me for permission to view repeatedly from one person, 8 in total but no other info. or reply to my question.
Thank goodness I have been contacted by a lot of very helpful people also.

Hi Lulli,

Like you I have never asked for tree access,,but been given it then they become hard to understand when a simple reply would be better --ie I connect to ???then you would know not to persue further,,,I dont really want hundreds and hundreds of twigs,,,,,getting further and further away from real genetics,,,,,,

I have received a few messages from people just stating 'have a look at my tree and get back to me' which is frustrating because if I do have the time to look at someone elses tree I dont want to be working out which ancestor is supposed to be one of mine and 9 times out of 10 they dont match anyway.

I do not open my tree or ask for access now until I have exchanged messages with someone and can be sure that indeed we do have a common ancestor and everything fits together.
